Horticulture Department Jalandhar organizes beekeeping training course

Beekeeping ensures decent income for farmers- Dr. Bhajan Singh Saini

Jalandhar, January 19- To improve the economic conditionof the farmers of the state by enhancing their income, The HorticultureDepartment in association with Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Farm Advisory Centreorganized a Beekeeping Training Course from January 11 to 19.

Presiding over the concluding session of the course,Assistant Director Horticulture Dr. Bhajan Singh Saini said that HorticultureDepartment has been encouraging the farmers to adopt allied occupations likeBee Keeping to enhance their income.

He asked the trainees to register with the NationalBee-Board and avail financial benefits under various schemes. He called uponthe farmers to ensure they get enrolled under various training coursesconducted by the Punjab government to make their profession more profitable.

Assistant Director Horticulture further said that duringbeekeeping, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Kataria and Dr. Ritu Raj detailed the traineesabout the necessary equipment needed for starting this business, how to ensureproper care of bees in different seasons, various products.

Assistant Director Dr. Sukhdeep Singh Hundal also gaveinformation regarding the facilities provided by the horticulture department.

On this occasion, Horticulture Development Officer Dr.Pritpal Singh Bath thanked the experts and students for coming. The literatureon beekeeping was also distributed among the trainees on the occasion.
