While everyone was concerned about the soccer matchbetween Canada and Sweden, Georgia Simmerling was pretty chill and calm aboutthe match in which her partner Stephanie Labbe was a part of the matchrepresenting Canada’s goalkeeper.
She said that she knows Labbe really well and that if shelosses or gets knocked down it won’t change anything, and she would still sendher good vibes. Simmerling is herself an Olympian, and knows how to keep hernerves in control; she has come back from competing at Tokyo in track cycling.
She says that being a partner of an Olympian, she is herbiggest fan, but she is pretty calm about that. Yesterday, she was in aCanadian Bar in Calgary to watch the soccer gold match where fans surrounded her.
On achieving the gold, Simmerling was out of breath andhad no bar of happiness. She stated, “They know what they need to do and theycame up big. That was unbelievable. It was so incredible to watch.”
It is the 1st gold achieved by the Canadianwomen soccer team, in the past 2 Olympic Games, the team has achieved Olympic backto back bronze medals. As for the couple, they both keep pushing each other toperform their best, they had thought of retiring from their sports but due toCovid-19 the 2020 Tokyo Olympics got postponed so their retirement became a bitunclear.
