Qatar Airways’s private jet sent by India to bring back fugitive Mehul Choksi from Caribbean island country Dominica has left the country after nearly seven days.
The Qatar Executive flight A7CEE took eight Indian officials from Delhi International Airport to Dominica on May 28. The private jet carried necessary documents related to cases againstChoksi.
The aircraft travelled to Marigot in Dominica via Madrid as Choksi’s lawyers filed a habeas corpus petition before the Dominica High court. The habeas corpus petition is filed for producinga person who is under arrest or in unlawful detention before a judge or into court.
The jet took off from the Melville Hall Airport in Dominica on June 3 after the High Court adjourned the hearing on Choksi’s petition. Judge Bernie Stephenson is to decide the nextdate of Hearing in Choksi’s case.

So far, it is not revealed yet the team went to bring Choksi back is returning on the jet or not.
The 62-year-old fugitive jeweller and his nephew Nirav Modi are wanted by Indian investigation agencies for allegedly defrauding Rs. 13,500 crore as loans from State-run Punjab National Bankusing fake documents.
Choksi has citizenship of the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda, from where had gone missing and was later booked in Dominica. He had taken a water route to allegedly escapefrom Antigua.
However, his lawyer argues that Choksi was kidnapped from Jolly Harbour in Antigua by policemen and brought to Dominica on a boat.
