Instead of ‘Capt for 2022’, govt must focus on real issues’, says MLA Pargat

He says the Congress government when came into power in 2017 promised to take action against the mining, liquor and drug mafia in the state, however, nothing concrete has been done so far.

Inan exclusive interview with the True Scoop News today, Jalandhar Cantonment MLAPargat Singh, raised questions on the performance of his own government andsaid the issues like drug, sand and liquor mafias continues to haunt Punjab, while our focus seems to be more on assembly elections, he said.

“Punjab has a lot of potential, while themining, liquor and drug mafias are taking a severe toll in its growth anddevelopment”, Singh said adding that the government must take steps to curbthese mafias in order to achieve the growth we have been aiming for the state.

Hesaid that the recent results of the municipal elections in the state are noindicator of the Assembly elections, and that the government has to work hardto gain the trust of the people of Punjab especially youth who have beenrunning hither and thither for the Jobs, to win the 2022 elections.

Hefurther said that previous local body elections were won by the SAD-BJPalliance and then they lost the Assembly elections, therefore, we cannot takethe civic body win for granted. The people of Punjab are ‘Smart’, they willdefinitely analyse the progress and development in the state before they casttheir vote.

Moreover,as the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Sunil Jakhar on February17, launched the ‘Capt for 2022’ campaign, there seems to be some internaldisagreement within the party legislators which has put the state leadership ina spot. Commenting upon the same, Pargat Singh also said that it was anexclusive right of the party high command to decide the CM face and it shouldbe left to them as to who leads the party in the Assembly elections.

PargatSingh also raised questions over certain promises that the Cpatain AmarinderSingh-led-Congress government had made to people before coming to power in2017. He said eliminating drugs was one of the prominent promises, rest givingemployment, shunning VIP culture and the list is long, but how many suchpromises have been fulfilled is the main question now as soon the governmentwill complete four years.

Incidentally, both Navjot Sidhu and Pargat Singh skipped a pre-wedding lunch hosted for partyMLAs and MPs by the Chief Minister on Thursday in connection with the weddingof his granddaughter. The speculations are being made as the both the leadersare not satisfied with the four-year performance of the government, therefore, they have not been actively participating in the state politics and arerestricted to the functioning in their respective constituencies.
