A 1988-batch IPS officer, Iqbal Preet SinghSahota on Saturday assumed the additional Charge of Director General of Police(Head of Police Force) Punjab .
According to the orders issued by the stategovernment, Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota would also continue to hold the charge ofSpecial DGP, Armed Battalion, Punjab.
After assuming charge, newly appointed DGPPunjab held a meeting with all the top brass of Punjab Police.
DGP Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota, while termingall the initiatives taken by the Punjab Police in past as extremely laudable,said that he will continue to work for further betterment of the state Police.
“Further strengthening the fight againstdrugs and keeping vigil on bad elements, besides, maintaining law and order inthe state are among my top priorities,” said the DGP.
Notably, DGP Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota hasserved in various capacities in the state. Prior to the posting as Special DGPArmed Battalion Punjab, he had remained Special DGP Punjab Home Guards andCommandant General Civil Defence.
He had also served as ADGP PAP Jalandhar,ADGP Railways, ADGP Prisons, ADGP Administration, Director Bureau ofInvestigation and other major posts in Punjab Police.
