Jaipur cops arrest 8 persons for leaking NEET exam paper

The paper started at 2 pm and it was leaked at 2:30 pm through WhatsApp.

Jaipur Police havearrested eight persons including an 18-year-old candidate, her uncle, and aninvigilator for cheating and leaking the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test(NEET) question paper on September 12. 

The NEET exam washeld on Sunday. This comes after the National Testing Agency (NTA), whichconducted the exams, categorically denied reports of the leak. The issue hadbecome a storm on social media. Many students tweeted reports of a leak with#OperationNEET trending on Twitter. 

The paper started at2 pm and it was leaked at 2:30 pm through WhatsApp. The paper leaked fromRajasthan Institute of Engineering and Technology (RIET) NEET exam center inJaipur.

It was found that CoachingDirector Navratna Swamy have masterminded the whole paper leak issue.

Eighteen-year-oldcandidate Dineshwari Kumari, was arrested while the others were sent intoremand.

Invigilator Ram Singh,in-charge of exam centre's administration unit Mukesh, Dineshwari's uncle andfour others were also nabbed in connection with the case, Deputy Commissionerof Police Richa Tomar said on Monday.

The NEET paper leakcase was carried out in exchange for Rs 35 lakh.

Dineshwari said, “Themen (in Sikar) forwarded the answer key to the two men in Chitrakoot who thenforwarded it Mukesh. Mukesh then forwarded it to Singh. Singh helped Dineshwarisolve the paper with the help of the answer key."

"The deal wasfinalised for Rs 30 lakh of which Rs 10 lakh was to be given soon after theexam is over," she said.

The officer saidDineshwari's uncle was present outside the exam centre with Rs. 10 lakh in cashwhich was allegedly supposed to be given to the accused.

Apart from them, theowner of an e-mitra centre Anil and the owner of a coaching centre in Alwar'sBansur were also arrested, the DCP added.
