Jalandhar administration appoints permanent staff to operate and supervise oxygen plant at civil hospital

Assistant Commissioner takes stock of the plant, the plant will ensure uninterrupted supply of oxygen to patients, says DC

Withthe oxygen generation plant has been started working at Civil Hospital, theadministration has appointed permanent staff to operate and supervise the plantto ensure uninterrupted supply of the oxygen to the patients especiallylevel-III Covid patients. Assistant Commissioner Hardeep Singh has taken stockof the plant through which the supply is being given to the patients.

Divulgingthe details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that Shaheed Babu LabhSingh Civil Hospital has become first in the state to have improved healthcareinfrastructure for ensuring quality treatment to serious Covid patients withthe it's own oxygen generation plant.

Thefour technical operator and supervisors including Narinder Singh, Shiv Dyal,Bhupinder Singh and Sandeep would have responsibility to oversee the operationof the plant 24-hours, he added.

Thework on the plant having 700-LPM capacity had started in December last year atthe cost of Rs 88.20 lakh, which had been given to a Jalandhar based privatefirm.

TheDeputy Commissioner said the generation plant would produce 700-LPM oxygendaily which is equal to 225-230 cylinders.

Headded with the commissioning of plant in the civil hospital, the supply ofoxygen cylinders can be increased by the vendor to the other private hospitalsas 225-230 cylinders which are being used here, can be given to the others amidthe apprehensions of second Covid wave.

Hesaid that this plant would ensure an uninterrupted supply of life-saving gas tothe serious patients in the Civil Hospital as there would be power generatorfacilities in it.

Mr.Thorisaid that this would prove instrumental in saving the precious lives of Covidand would help to combat the pandemic efficiently to treat level-II patients.

Hestated that oxygen supply line already had been installed on 340-beds in thecivil hospital and there would not be any kind of shortage in the future ofthis life-saving gas.

TheDeputy Commissioner told that as it is the primary requirement in the treatmentof Covid patients and this plant would play a pivotal role in the fight againstCovid-19.

Appealingto the people not to take flu-like symptoms lightly and immediately contactnearby health facilities besides get tested for Covid without fail so that thespread of the contagion can be halted, he said that people were reporting lateto the doctors hence their condition further deteriorates.

Hesaid that there was no dearth of resources and manpower with the stategovernment to tackle this pandemic.
