Ledby Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, the administration has become a leadingdistrict in Jalandhar Division by ensuring functional tap water connections to54311 households in the last eight months against the target of 30500.
Participatingin a video-conference presided over by Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan, DeputyCommissioner said that Jalandhar has a total of 2,32,122 households in a ruralarea and it has already covered 1,86,113 households.
Accompaniedby MC Commissioner Karnesh Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) VisheshSarangal, Deputy Commissioner said that the administration was given a targetof functional tap water connections to 30500 households from April 1, 2020, toDecember 31, 2020, but it had ensured water connections to 54311 households,the highest among other districts of the Jalandhar division.
Hesaid that the regular review of the program and concerted efforts by theexecutive engineers and Junior Engineers of the Water Supply and SanitationDepartment have made this possible.
GhanshyamThori also told in the Video Conference that the administration would leave nostone unturned to cover all remaining rural households by August 2021 so thatthe district administration can ensure the potable water service delivery inadequate quantity to all households.
Hesaid that the administration has already ensured piped water supply to all 1488rural schools and 1391 Anganwari centres of the district.
DeputyCommissioner under phase-II of Smart Village Campaign, the district hassanctioned 2047 various types of development works worth Rs 131 crore out of2013 works have been initiated already.
Similarly,Under Phase-II of the Punjab Urban Environment Improvement Program, tenders of474 works worth Rs 120 crore have also been issued and 393 works have beeninitiated already, he informed.
DeputyCommissioner said that the district administration was duty-bound to serve thepeople by ensuring the benefit of various schemes launched by the stategovernment so that they do not face any sort of inconvenience.
Hesaid that all development projects would prove game-changers to transform thelives and destiny of people residing in this town. He also warned officials anysort of callousness in serving the people was unwanted and undesirable.
