DeputyCommissioner Ghanshyam Thori took the stock of the arrangements made fordestitute/ orphan/abandoned children at the Unique Home and Pushpa Gujral NariNiketan, situated on Jalandhar-Nakodar road and assured fulsome support andcooperation to both child care institutions from the administration in allrespects.
Duringthe visit, he asked the officials of the social security, women and childdevelopment department to ensure that the facilities for the care andprotection of the children should be followed in the letter and spirit.
Heinspected the quality of food being served to the children by the institutionsand also checked the places where the children were residing besides cradlefacilities in both centres.
Further,he also reviewed the functioning of child helpline (1098) operational in theNari Niketan.
Healso asked the management of these institutes to take special care, in terms ofsecurity and good environment, for the girls living in these places.
TheDeputy Commissioner also interacted with the children and motivated them toachieve dreams with dedication and hard work.
GhanshyamThori said that the district administration was duty-bound to ensure that thesechildren live their lives with dignity and pride. He said that all effortswould be made to make these children a partner in the socio-economic growth ofthe state.
Laudingboth institutions for their service to the society, Deputy Commissioner alsourged the management to contact him personally in the case of any need at anytime.
Heasked officers of the district administration to frequently visit theseinstitutes to keep a regular tab over the facilities being offered to thehapless children in such institutes.
