Jalandhar lockdown restrictions extended by another week to check Covid19 spread

DC Ghanshyam Thori said decision was taken after deliberations with CM on video conference

Witha view to stemming the virus spread, the Lockdown Restrictions in JalandharDistrict have been extended for a period of one week. As per new directions,now current curbs would remain in effect till May, 21, 2021.

Divulgingthe details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the decision hasbeen taken after a detailed discussion on the current situation in the districtwith Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday during a virtual reviewmeeting.

TheDC added that the district administration has imposed various curbs withrespect to movement of people and operation of essential and non-essentialshops on May 7, 2021 which have been extended for a period of seven days more.

Mr.Thori added that the administration apprised the Chief Minister of the latestCovid-19 situation in Jalandhar besides steps being taken by the localauthorities. He said that after due deliberations, it was decided that thelockdown restrictions should remain in force for one week more. 

He said thatthe administration would ensure proper enforcement of lockdown restrictions inletter and spirit. He said that people can contact helpline number 0181-2224417for any kind of assistance from administration.
