Punjab Safai Mazdoor Union burnt the effigy of Congress MP from Jalandhar Santokh Singh Chaudhary and Cabinet Minister of Sadhu Singh Dharmasot at Company Bagh Chowk of Jalandhar. The union did the demonstration because the students did not pay DA (dearness allowance) to the post matriculation scheme and cleaning workers. Union President Chandan Grewal said that due to the ignorance of both the central and state governments, dalit students are not getting the benefit of post matriculation scheme. Apart from government, dalit parliament and legislators are equally responsible. Therefore, they warn the government to release the post matriculation funds and give the workers their DA if they are ready to get the results.
