NiranjanSingh, Deputy Director, Enforcement Directorate, Jalandhar, on Monday took tosocial media site facebook to report the lackadaisical attitude of theMunicipal Corporation in Jalandhar.
Inhis long post, he expressed his concerns over the ignorant attitude of the MCJciting that they owe no answer, no accountability, no responsibility and nosensitivity to anyone.
Heposted a video of a small patch of road in Green Model Town, Jalandhar where heresides, saying that the road after been dug up for the repairing work nearly amonth back, has been forgotten by the authorities concerned.
Hesaid even sewerage and water lines were also damaged by the staff of the MCJduring the process of digging up the road causing severe inconvenience to theresidents.
Headded that people residing there are facing difficulties as it has becomedifficult for them to move out or enter their homes. “This work should havetaken only two to three days to complete. It is pathetic to see that theconcerned authorities including the Commissioner, MCJ, local MLA and the localCouncillor are behaving as if they are the feudal lords and they are notaccountable to anyone”, he said.
Hefurther said that these concerned authorities have to change their mindset as theyare accountable for their actions/ inactions. “In many western countries, railway flyovers are built in 24 hrs to ensure that no inconvenience is causedto the public. Sometimes, I have to come or depart at odd hours for officialwork but the conditions of the road damaged by the MCJ, make it difficult tomove. Are any superior authorities listening?”, said Singh in his social mediapost.
Meanwhile, the post of the ED official drew good response from the city residents as theyjumped on to share similar experiences.
Theresidents said that the patch work carried out to fill potholes and repairbroken stretches in the city did not last even a month. Besides, even afterrepeated complaints, the officials concerned hardly pay any heed to damagedroads, which pose a serious threat to commuters.
