Jalandhar’s Nikku Park all set to reopen from Saturday evening

DC directs officials to prepare for opening with 50% capacity, also asks management to ensure strict compliance of covid19 protocols

Having remained shut for about two months during the secondwave of the CoronaVirus pandemic, Nikku Park once again set to reopen from thisSaturday as Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today directed the managementof the park to prepare for its opening.

Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thorisaid that the park will remain open from 3.30 to 7.30 pm daily with 50 percentof its capacity so that people of the city can enjoy the amusement facilitieshere. The park, spread in 4.5 acres, has remained shut since April this year besidesbeing shut for over seven months last year.

 The DC said that the park would entertain visitors toonly 50 percent of its total capacity to strictly comply with the Covid-19safety measures. He added that the district administration had issued financialaid worth Rs. 12 lakh to this park, which was spent on various facelift works.

Notably, Nikku Park, which is located at the heart of thecity, was in dilapidated conditions due to lack of maintenance as it remainedshut due to the COVID-19 pandemic for almost a year.

Mr. Thori stated that a special drive was carried out inthe last few months to repair all the swings besides giving this park a newfacelift. He further added that all the main swings and rides in the park thatincludes the amusement bus, fountains, train, music fountains, floodlights, andmany more have been made operational lately.

Further, CCTV cameras have also been installed in the parkpremises. Earlier, the deputy commissioner had also formed a committee underthe chairmanship of Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Harcharan Singh toensure the maintenance of this park.
