Expressinghappiness over results of local bodies’ elections in the state, Member ofParliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary said that the landslide victory was atestament to pro-people policies pursued by Congress government during the lastfour years.
“Peoplehave again reposed their faith in Congress and given a thumping majority to theparty in the semifinals to 2022 legislative assembly polls. Whereas on onehand, the Punjab Government has worked for the welfare of the public, theBJP-led Central Government brought in anti-farmers laws and crony capitalism.The voters have responded accordingly, and the results are a tight slap on theface of BJP and Akalis,” he said.
FormerPunjab Youth Congress President and Phillaur assembly constituency inchargeVikramjit Chaudhary thanked the people for the huge mandate and said that thenewly elected candidates will serve the public with even more dedication.
Hestated that the results were a stamp of approval on the last four years ofCongress government in Punjab and another proof of public trust in CaptainAmarinder Singh’s leadership.
VikramjitChaudhary further said that the voters rejected those who brought inundemocratic and anti-farmers policies. “Punjab is not going to forget thosewho deceived our farmers and will punish them in assembly polls next year also.The rout of Akalis and BJP shows that people are fed up with their antics andno longer trust them,” he added.
