Accordingto the news agency PTI, actress Shilpa Shetty has been cleared in an obscenitycase filed 14 years ago by a Mumbai court. Ms. Shetty was found to be the"victim" of a contentious kiss involving Hollywood star Richard Gere,according to the court.
ShilpaShetty and Richard Gere were attending an AIDS awareness event in Rajasthan in2007 when Mr. Gere repeatedly kissed her on the cheek. As a result, severalcomplaints and protests were filed across the country. Shilpa Shetty wasaccused of not objecting when Richard Gere kissed her; the case was transferredfrom a Rajasthan court to Mumbai on the order of the Supreme Court.
Accordingto PTI, Shilpa Shetty was released by a Mumbai court on January 18. "Itappears that accused Shilpa Shetty is the victim of alleged act No. 1."(Richard Gere). In the court order, metropolitan magistrate Ketki Chavan wrote,"Not a single element of any of the alleged offenses is satisfied in thecomplaint." "By no means does this imply that she is a conspirator orperpetrator of any crime." The court order was made public on Monday.
ShilpaShetty called the protests an overreaction, while Richard Gere, whose effigy wasburned after the controversial kiss, later apologized for offending.
2. Ashneer Grover matter:
AshneerGrover, Managing Director and Co-Founder of BharatPe, has taken a voluntaryleave of absence until the end of March amid mounting scrutiny and pressureover his abusive language to a Kotak employee, BharatPe's toxic culture, andaggressive behavior on the television show Shark Tank. Grover's destructivework culture at the startup has also received a lot of attention in recentyears.
“AshneerGrover, our co-founder, and MD (managing director) has today informed the Boardof his decision to take a voluntary absence from BharatPe till March-end.Ashneer has co-built BharatPe from scratch and his decision is consistent withhis passionate commitment to the future success of the company,” the statementread.
Accordingto a company statement, Ashneer Grover informed the company's board of hisdecision to take a leave of absence.
"Fornow, the board has accepted Ashneer's decision which we agree is in the bestinterests of the ‘company, our employees and investors, and the millions ofmerchants we support each day," it said.
"Ashneerhas co-built BharatPe from scratch and his decision is consistent with hispassionate commitment to the future success of the company. The Board hasaccepted Ashneer's decision, which we agree is in the best interests of thecompany, our employees and investors, and the millions of merchants we supporteach day."
InMr. Grover's absence, the company "will continue to be ably led by our CEOSuhail Sameer and our strong management team," according to the statement.
Mr.Grover was embroiled in a major controversy after the Kotak Mahindra bankaccused him of using derogatory language in a phone call to a Kotak Groupemployee.

AshneerGrover, on the other hand, is a direct person in both life and business. Evenhis appearance on the Shark Tank India Show was notable, with him declaringthat he is a straightforward person, but the Kotak Mahindra Matters pursued him.
