Mumbai Police on Monday recorded the statement of filmmakerMahesh Bhatt as part of their investigation into the death of Bollywood actorSushant Singh Rajput.
The filmmaker was spotted wearing a face shield, gloves andmask, as he made his way into the Santacruz police station to give hisstatement.
The gist of Bhatt's statement is yet to be revealed by thepolice.
Other Bollywood celebrities who have been summoned byMumbai Police lately in the “Sushant Singh Rajput Case” are actress KanganaRanaut and Apoorva Mehta, CEO of Dharma Productions, the production house ofKaran Johar.
Earlier, on Sunday afternoon, Maharashtra Home Minister AnilDeshmukh had confirmed that Bhatt would be summoned for interrogation in thecase. "In one or two days Mahesh Bhatt's statement will be taken. Thenunder CrPC Kangana Ranaut has also been summoned. Whoever is needed we willsummon," Deshmukh had reportedly told the media on Sunday afternoon.
On being asked if Johar himself would be summoned, the minister reportedly replied- "Karan Johar's manager has been summoned, andif needed we will summon Karan Johar as well."
On June 14, Sushant was found hanging at his Bandraresidence by his domestic help. Post mortem report stated that the actor hadcommitted suicide, though Mumbai Police is carrying on an investigation into hisdeath. Several celebrities, politicians and fans of the actor have demanded aCBI probe into the death.
Sushant's demise sparked off discussions around severalthings including nepotism, favouritism, and gangism that Bollywood power campsallegedly engage in.
