Meet Pratishtha, first wheel-chair bound Indian to study at Oxford

Pratishtha, who hails from the Hoshiarpur, always scored highest in her academics.

While coronavirus has gripped the whole world, an inspirational story of Pratishtha Deveshwar has touched many hearts. A final year student from Delhi University's Lady Shri Ram College, going to be the first primary wheel-chair bound Indian to study at Oxford University. Pratishtha, who hails from the Hoshiarpur, always scored highest in her academics. She shared a snapshot on June 15, showing the ‘certificate of offer’ received from the university.

Taking the Twitter Pratishtha shared along with ‘Certificate of Offer’ from the University of Oxford: “Thrilled to share that I'll be pursuing a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Oxford! From the ICU where I fought for my life, to being the first wheelchair-user from India to get into Oxford-it has been a rollercoaster ride! I want to thank you all for your support!”

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh also took twitter to congratulate her. By sharing the video clip, Capt Amarinder Singh tweeted: 

"The indomitable will & spirit of Pratishtha Deveshwar of Punjab are truly inspiring. She is the first girl wheelchair user from India to be joining Oxford for a Master’s program. I wish her good luck & am sure she will come back to serve the country. God bless, Beta!”

Pratishtha also told Captain Amarinder Singh that when she was 13-years-old, her lower body got paralyzed from down the chest area because of a car accident. But her good deeds, hard work, passion, and dedication did not stop her to accomplish her dreams.
