Prashant Bhushan, a Public Interest Lawyer and Acitivisttweeted on Monday, "जो कल तक कहते थे कि"मैंने अपना राजनीतिक कैरियर आंदोलन करके बनाया है",वह आज हमारे किसानों को नीचा दिखाने के लिए 'आंदोलन जीव' कह रहे हैं!"(Those who used to say that I have made my career by doing protests, they aretoday looking down upon farmers and calling them 'Protesting creatures'.)
Responding to the President's Motion of Thanks address inparliament on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that the MSP willhere to stay and farmers should hold talks and end the protests.
Modi also proposed a new phrase, "Foreign destructiveideology." It is perhaps directed towards the response that the agitationof farmers is getting from international media, activists, lawmakers inAmerican Congress, public figures and celebrities among others.
The Prime Minister also hit out at the protesters byterming them "Andolan Jeevi." Modi said, "“There is a new crop of‘andolanjeevi’. They live for protests. They look for ways to start a newmovement. The country needs to be aware of these andolanjeevis,” according tothe translation by Times of India.
Meanwhile, the farmers are protesting for more than 70days and after the protest turned amuck on January 26, the police resorted to cementingmetal spikes, concertina and barbed wires and barricades among other things toblock the way to the protest sites. Moreover, as per reports, the authoritieshave halted the supply of basic necessities and locked washrooms at the protestsites.
As per reports more than 115 farmers are languishing inprisons while around 29 have been cited as missing.
