The Indian Railways has been extending its routes across the nation and the train services between India’s capital New Delhi and its financial capital Mumbai is considered to be one of the most important routes. It is to be noted that this route is covered by premium trains such as the Rajdhani Express.
Here is the list of the Rajdhani Express, Vande Bharat and Shatabdi Express trains which run between Mumbai and Delhi:
Currently, around four Rajdhani trains operate between Mumbai and New Delhi, which are as follows -
The 12952 train leaves from New Delhi at 4:55 pm and arrives at Mumbai Railway station at 8:35 am (the next day). The total distance covered by the train is approximately 15 hours and 40 minutes. The train runs all seven days of the week.
Around eight major stations are covered by the train during the journey, and major halt stations for the train are Kota, Nagda, Ratlam, Vadodara, Surat, Borivali.
The train 12951 is the return train from Mumbai to New Delhi, which departures from Mumbai at 5:00 pm and reaches New Delhi at 8:32 am (the next day).
The train 12954 leaves Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station at around 5:15 pm and reaches Mumbai Central at 8:05 am, the next day. The total time taken by train is approximately 14 hours and 50 minutes and the total distance covered is around 1377 kilometers.
The train runs all seven days of the week. The major stops covered by the train are Mathura, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Ratlam, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat.
The train 12953 departs from Mumbai Central at 05:10 pm and arrives at Hazrat Nizamuddin at 09:43 am, the next day.
The train number 12432 leaves from Hazrat Nizamuddin Station at 06:16 am and reaches Mumbai Vicinity at around 9:43 pm, the next day. And, the journey of the train finishes at 11:35 pm.
The train runs twice a week.
The train starts its journey from Hazrat Nizamuddin Station at 8:10 am and arrives at Vasai Road at approximately 11:20 pm. The train runs on the weekly basis and the total time taken to reach Vasai Road is approximately 15 hours and 10 minutes.
As of now, there is no direct train service between New Delhi and Mumbai but certain services do connect Mumbai with some major cities. However, it is to be noted that certain plans by the government have revealed that a Vande Bharat train will be soon launched between New Delhi and Mumbai to cover the distance of around 1,384 kilometers in approximately 12 hours.
Same as Vande Bharat Express, Shatabdi Express also don’t cover the route between Mumbai and New Delhi and the best possible reason behind the same is the long distance between both the cities.
The train currently covers routes like -
New Delhi to Chandigarh, and
New Delhi to Bhopal.
