DeputyCommissioner Ghanshyam Thori today directed the officials to impose curfew likestrictness in the all the micro-containment zones to arrest the spread ofCovid-19 pandemic.
Afterparticipating in the video-conference presided by Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan,Deputy Commissioner asked the Civil and health officials to keep eagle eye onthe micro-containment zones and there must be utmost strictness in the thesezones to prevent the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
Thorisaid that in Jalandhar, only one micro-containment zone is active and allpersons in the areas has been tested for Covid. He asked officials to ensureimplementation of government's guidelines, especially covid appropriatebehaviour in these zones. He asked the officers to ensure that no movement ofvehicles and persons take place in the zones.
Hesaid that any violation of the norms in the containment zones should be dealtwith sternly. He said that for any sort of lapse the officer of the concernedarea would be held accountable.
Hedirected the officials to monitor the gathering at marriage palaces and askedthem to deploy supervisors so that state government's orders regardinggathering could be implemented in its letter and spirit. He further proposed todeploy public address system in the markets to sensitize people about the covidappropriate behaviour.
Further,he told the health teams to ramp up the sampling to 6000 daily and ensure thesampling of the each contact of a positive person as soon as possible besidesquarantining of the positive cases.
Hefurther told the police officials to start challaning drive against those whoare violating Covid protocols including masking, social distancing and others.He mentioned that 66,601 challans were issued for not wearing masks and apenalty of Rs. 3,17,49,600 was also recovered from the violators. Similarly,challans for spitting, violating home quarantine, not maintaining socialdistancing were also issued.
DeputyCommissioner also appealed all the beneficiaries including senior citizens andpeople between ages 45 to 59 with co-morbidities to come forward and getvaccinated. He further asked all government teachers to must get Covid-19 jabto curb the virus spread in schools.
Herevealed 8374 healthcare, 9830 frontline, 1254 above 60 and 148 those olderthan 45 with co-morbidities have been vaccinated in the district.
Hefurther informed Chief Secretary that so far, Jalandhar has collected 6.44 lakhsamples including 22427 in last seen days with an average of 4000 samples perday. As many as 4401 samples have been taken from. schools in last week, headded.
Hesaid that the Jalandhar has registered 15.3 percent contract tracing and around84.90 percent of the total contacts have been tested.
DeputyCommissioner added that total 481 level-2 beds, 132 level beds and 72ventilators are in Jalandhar and directed the officials to augment theinfrastructure.
Hesaid that the state and district was fighting a war against an ‘invisibleenemy’ and the officers were already doing a tough job.
TheDeputy Commissioner further asked the officers to continue their duty zealouslyas it was a war against the Covid-19 pandemic, which has emerged a major threatacross the globe.
Meanwhile,the deputy Commissioner imposed night curfew in the district effective from11pm to 5 am till further orders. Also exempted some categories from the curfewto carry out their functioning.
