Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner VarinderKumar Sharma, the Nodal Officer for ensuring the seamless and unhindered supplyof the oxygen to the hospitals on Covid board, Deputy Director Local Government(DDLG) Amit Bambi along with his team of drug inspectors conducted theinspection of oxygen generation and bottling plants of Ludhiana.
Reviewing the situation, Amit Bambi said that the district administration has two oxygen generation plants Vardhman SpecialSteels Limited and Weltech Equipment and Infrastructure Limited besides fivebottling plants of Ludhiana.
He said that presently, the district is generating oxygenfor 1800-2000 D type cylinders and it is being run at full capacity. Heinformed that Civil Hospital has also its oxygen generation plant and getting115 cylinders on its own but the administration is also supplying some quantityto them with an increase in level-3 Covid patients.
He also added in the last two days, around 250 cylindersof life-saving gas have been supplied to Jalandhar as per requirement. Anyonewho is facing any difficulty in getting oxygen cylinders in Ludhiana for Covidpatients can dial 7837018500 and 0161-2421091 helpline numbers, he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma toldthat the administration is in a comfortable position and there is no need toget panicky as efforts are afoot to ensure an uninterrupted supply of oxygen tothe hospitals treating Covid patients. He said that clear directions have beendirected to take stern action against the persons involved in the hoarding ofthe oxygen and remove all obstructions to ensure a regular supply of oxygen.
Deputy Commissioner added that as the Covid cases areskyrocketing in the district, the people need to adhere to Covid protocolsincluding maintaining social distancing, wearing masks, and adopting handhygiene. He appealed the eligible to take the vaccine promptly by shunning anykind of doubts or fear as it is the best way to come out of this dark tunnel.
Appealing to the people not to take flu-like symptomslightly and immediately contact nearby health facilities besides get tested forCovid without fail so that the spread of the contagion can be halted, he saidthat people were reporting late to the doctors hence their condition furtherdeteriorates.
He said that there was no dearth of resources andmanpower with the state government to tackle this pandemic and solicitedfulsome support of the people.
