The Rashtrapati Bhavanwill host a function to honour Padma Shree Awardee on Monday, these awardswould be presented by the President of the nation Ram Nath Kovind. The 2021list comprises seven Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan, and 102 Padma ShriAwards, of which 29 awardees are women, 16 Posthumous awardees, and 1transgender awardee.
On November 8 morning,President awarded Kangana and Adnan Sami, Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor to behonoured in the evening.
Producer Ekta Kapoorexpressed happiness and on Twitter wrote, “Humbled and overwhelmed. My forayinto the industry started when I was just 17. I constantly heard I was ‘tooyoung', ‘too raw’ and it was ‘too soon’ to make things happen. Through theyears I’ve realized it’s never ‘too soon’ to live out your dreams and being‘too young’ is probably the best thing. Today, as I’m conferred with the 4thhighest civilian honor- ‘Padmashri’, I’m humbled.”
Karan Johar also tookto Twitter to share the news and express his gratitude and wrote, “It’s notvery often that I am at a loss for words, but this is one such occasion…ThePadma Shri. Such an honour to receive one of the civilian awards in thecountry. Overwhelmed by so many emotions right now. Humbled, elated and alsothankful for the opportunity to live my dream every day, to create and toentertain. I know my father would be proud and I wish he was here to share thismoment with me. #blessed.”
And Kangana wrote, “Istarted my journey from a small village in Himachal Pradesh, and for me to bein the same league as these bigwigs we have grown up watching, whether it isKaran’s films or Ekta Kapoor’s serials… We knew these people, growing up. Andwho has not heard Adnan Sami ji’s songs? For a girl like me, to get a PadmaShri alongside them is a matter of pride.”
Padma Shri is thefourth-highest civilian award in India after Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan andPadma Bhushan.
