Choked up with emotions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tribute to those who had lost their lives due to Covid19. On May 21, PM Modi held a virtual meet with doctors, paramedicalstaff and frontline workers in Varanasi and thanked them for their selfless services.
“The virus has snatched many of loved ones from us. I pay my humble tribute to them and I express my condolences to the families who lost people,” said PM as he took a long pausewhile paying homage.
While interacting with healthcare workers, Prime Minister said, “As a servant of Kashi, I thank everyone, doctors, nurses, technicians, ward boys and ambulance drivers who have donecommendable work amid the raging pandemic.”
In the meeting that was held virtually, Modi discussed the ongoing efforts in Varanasi in the fight against deadly Covid19 infection and the preparations to tackle the same in the future.
“In the second wave of the corona, we are fighting on multiple fronts at the same time. The rate of infection is also much more and patients are in hospitals for a longer time.”
“Varanasi has set a great example by the way it has equipped Pandit Rajan Mishra Covid hospital and increased the number of oxygen beds and ICU beds in the city in such a little time,”he added.
Further encouraging the medical fraternity, Prime Minister Modi said that the Center has been able to control pandemics to some extent with the common efforts of everyone. “But thereis no time to relax as we have to fight a long battle. We have to shift our focus towards villages in Purvanchal and Varanasi.”
In the meeting, he also appreciated the role of ASHA and ANM workers for their help in controlling the cases in rural areas.
