Post victory, Mamata Banerjee targets PM Modi, says ‘BJP needs political oxygen now’

Afterwinning Bengal Elections with a thumping majority, Trinamool Congress supremoMamata Banerjee seems to have emerged as a formidable challenge to the Centre'sruling party.

Inan interview to a private channel, Mamata Banerjee, speaking about her bitterly-foughtbattle with the BJP and recording her third successive win in the West BengalAssembly elections, she said that ‘BJP need political oxygen now’.

Shesaid BJP used everything -- money power, muscle power and everything possible-- but the people of Bengal have voted for development. It is the people choiceand they have shown the way. The peopleof Bengal have saved democracy. I congratulate all my mothers and sister andminority brothers and sisters.

Shefurther said that a political party should never show audacity or ego as it’sthe people who decide their representatives and they must not be taken forgranted.

Talkingabout the reports on the post-poll violence in parts of the state, MamataBanerjee accused the BJP of trying to create a disruptive environment in areaswhere they have won.

Shealso said that the oath taking ceremony will be organised in a small way on May5. There will be a huge victory rally at the Brigade, but that will beannounced later once the pandemic subsides.
