Punjab Congress leader and former Cabinet minister NavjotSidhu is leaving no stone unturned to sharp his words against his owngovernment. Sidhu once again on Friday took a jibe at CM Capt Amarinder Singh forthe unprecedented power outages in the state.
However, he forgot to introspect himself that he owesmuch to the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited. According to the reports,cricketer-turned-politician is one of the state’s biggest individualelectricity dues defaulters.
As of now, Sidhu owes Rs8, 74, 784 to the PSCL for hisAmritsar residence.
GS Khaira, Amritsar’s superintending engineer of PSPCLsaid, “In March 2021, Sidhu owed the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited(PSPCL) Rs17,62,742. At that time, thePSPCL launched a drive against defaulters and Sidhu paid Rs10 lakh. A sum of Rs8.74 lakh is still pending.”
“Sidhu has applied for one-time settlement of the bill, raisingdoubts on surcharges which is under consideration,” he added.
Bursting clouds of anger against Sidhu, another seniorPSPCL official at its Patiala-based headquarters said: “Before giving adviceand suggestion to others, Sidhu should clear his dues. Many consumers with alower outstanding amount faced disconnections, but due to Sidhu’s politicalclout, the department didn’t take action.”
PSPCL officials further said, the last date to clear the outstandingdues is July 2 and if Sidhu will fail to pay the bill, an action would betaken against him.
Taking note of the matter and mocking at the Congressleader, opposition leaders in the state have been sharing Sidhu’s outstandingbill on social media.
