PSPCL/PSTCL General & BC categories staff under thebanner of General category Welfare Federation PSEB unit today staged protestagainst the Punjab Government move to allow consequential seniority uponreservation in promotions as per the 85th amendment.
Kuljit Singh Rataul President PSEB unit said that thePunjab Government has failed to announce general category welfare commissiondespite its commitment. Despite assurances the Punjab government vide itsletter of January 21 has started the process of granting consequentialseniority reservation to SC/ST category employees. The other leaders whoaddressed the gathering include Sukhpreet Singh, Gurdip Singh Tiwana ,RanbirKaur and Ashok Chopra.
Jaswant Singh Dhaliwal State President in a pressstatement has urged the state government to discuss the matter with GeneralCategory Welfare Federation and other stakeholders before making any decision. Thereis great resentment among general and other backward class employees againstthe move of the Punjab Government.
Sukhpreet Singh Secretary General said that theFederation submitted an 11 point charter of demands to the PSPCL and PSTCLmanagement and sought an immediate meeting to discuss the matter.
It may be mentioned that the Supreme Court in M Nagaraj’scase laid down the condition to exclude creamy layer of scheduled casteemployees from the benefit of reservation in promotion was imposed. But to dateeven after lapses of more than 14 years, the government has not taken anydecision regarding the creamy layer.
