Punjab: AAP Minister against new Traffic Rules, says 'Govt must roll back the orders'

The Punjab Government has doubled the fine for violating the traffic rules by releasing a notification. The new rule even includes the suspension of the Driving License

The Punjab Government has doubled the fine for violating the traffic rulesby releasing a notification. The new rule even includes the suspension of the DrivingLicense. However, one of the government’s ministers has issued a statementagainst the traffic rules. Brahm Shankar Jimpa, Minister of Revenue and WaterResources in the Mann ministry said I am totally against the new traffic normsand the imposition of a hefty sum over the public.

Rather, he said thosebreaking the traffic norms must be taught the guidelines and essentialprinciples. The government must take back this notification. No statements fromthe government have been released as of now.

“The defaulters mustbe given a chance”: Minister Jimpa

The Minister said people can buy a second-hand vehicle from the fine amountimposed on them. I am of the view that the defaulters must get a chance torectify their mistakes. They must be told that their license will be seized. Thegovernment must change these rules. If someone will be imposed with Rs 10,000fine, where will they go? He will borrow from someone and that will increasehis problems. The Government must not impose its own decisions.
