Punjab Cabinet Condoles Death Of Sardool Sikander

CM Orders Payment Of His Hospital Dues Of Rs 10 Lakhs

Chandigarh, February 24: The Punjab Cabinet on Wednesdaycondoled the sad and untimely demise of legendary Punjabi folk singer SardoolSikandar, with Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh announcing that hisgovernment will clear the deceased’s hospital dues of Rs 10 lakh. 

Captain Amarinder announced the decision after cabinetminister Charanjit Singh Channi informed him that the deceased’s family had nomoney to pay the same. The chief minister also directed the health departmentto ensure that the private hospital creates no hassles in releasing Sardool’sbody to his family due to non-payment of dues. 

In a condolence resolution, the cabinet noted that with thedemise of Sardool Sikandar, who passed away today, the nation had lost one of itsbest-known Punjabi singers and the void left behind by him will be impossibleto fill. 

Earlier, the chief minister took to Twitter to express hisshock at Sardool’s demise. He said that with Sardool’s death, the world ofPunjabi music had been left poorer. He also extended his condolences to thedeceased’s family and fans.
