Punjab Government to set up Punjabi Film Development Council

CM Channi honours Punjabi Singers, Actors and Musicans with Shan-E-Punjab lifetime Awards

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh announced to set upPunjabi Film Development Council, Punjab to promote Punjabi language andculture. 

CM Channi said that proposal in this regard would becleared in the coming cabinet meeting. He said that it is the need of the hour topromote the glorious cultural heritage of the state through films, which are thelatest and most effective way of communication nowadays. CM Channi envisionedthat it will go a long way in showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Punjabacross the globe.

The Chief Minister said this during an Award Functionorganised here today at Chandigarh University, Gharuan to honour PunjabiActors, Singers, Musicians and background Artists for their contribution toPunjabi culture. 

During this SHANE-E-PUNJAB function organised by PunjabiFilm, Music & Television Guild Society and Punjab Tourism Department, theChief Minister honoured Punjabi Folk Singer Late Gurmeet Bawa and SardoolSikander with Shan-E-Punjab tribute Award and Famous Punjabi musician CharanjitAhuja and Punjabi Actor Gaggu Gill with Shan--E-Punjab lifetime achievementawards. 

Prominent amongst present on the occasion included SidhuMooselwala, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol, Punjabi Film Actors YograjSingh, Upasna Singh, Satinder Satti, Ranjit Bawa, Master Saleem. 

Dinesh Speed Records Secretary Punjabi Film, Music, TVGuild Society thanked the Punjab Government and Chandigarh University forsupporting this function.
