Punjab Govt asks schools not to recommend books of private publishers

In view of the complaints received in this regard, the Education Department has issued instructions to the managements of private schools not to directly or indirectly force the students

ThePunjab Government has directed the managements of private schools not to imposebooks, published by private publishers on the students studying in theirschools and they should recommend the books only published by the certifiedinstitutes.

Disclosingthis here, a spokesperson of the Punjab School Education Department said thatthe Director Education (SE) has issued letters to the managements of allprivate schools affiliated to the CBSE, ICSE and Punjab School Education Board.The aim of this is to protect the interests of the students.

Accordingto the spokesperson, some management of private schools are imposing the bookspublished by private publishers to the students studying in their schools andthe students were being asked to buy these books and uniforms from specialshops. Students and their parents have to buy these books at exorbitant prices.

Inview of the complaints received in this regard, the Education Department hasissued instructions to the managements of private schools not to directly orindirectly force the students and their parents to purchase books and uniformsfrom special shops / firms. In case of doing so, the accreditation /no-objection certificate of the guilty schools will be revoked.
