Punjab school education minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, onFriday, said that to commemorate and laud the contribution of the freedomfighters, martyrs and renowned personalities, the state government has namedfive government schools after the names of such martyrs. Mr. Singla said thatapart from implementing the name changing policy in a transparent manner, thestate government under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister CaptainAmarinder Singh has also been ensuring improvement in the quality of the schooleducation.
The cabinet minister said that results of the reformsintroduced by their government have shown positive results which were visibleon the record as enrolment and results have been improved incredibly. He addedall the policies and reforms were being implemented on a merit basis whichformed the base of the transformation of the school education sector. He saidthat before issuing the notification, the education department has concludedthe due process of the verification and sought clearances from the concerneddepartments.
Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that Government Senior SecondarySchool Sekhu in Bathinda district has been named as Shaheed Labh SinghGovernment Senior Secondary School; in SAS Nagar district, Government HighSchool Dharamgarh has been named as Shaheed Sepoy Gurpreet Singh GovernmentSenior Secondary School and Government Middle School Chakk Bhaike in districtMansa has been named as Shaheed Hawaldaar Sukhwinder Singh Government Middle SchoolChakk Bhaike.
The cabinet minister informed that a government seniorsecondary school in Faridkot district has been named after a freedom fighterbelonging to Rori Kapura village and now the school will be known as FreedomFighter Jangir Singh Government Senior Secondary School Rori Kapura. He addedanother school in Jalandhar district has also been named after renownedpolitician Comrade Harkrishan Singh Surjit and the school in Bundala villagewill now be known as Comrade Harkrishan Singh Surjit Government SeniorSecondary School Bundala.
