Punjab Vigilance Bureau registers bribery case against five police officials

a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against two SIs, two HCs, and one PHG

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed sub-Inspector(SI), Head Constable (HC) and Punjab Home Guard (PHG) red-handed whileaccepting bribe of Rs 13,000 and also registered a corruption case against theirtwo accomplices a sub-inspector and a head constable.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of theVigilance Bureau said SI Karnveer Singh, Head constable Makhan Singh, and PHGVirsa Singh, posted at city police station Samana in Patiala district, wasnabbed red-handed on the complaint Vinod Kumar of Patran, Patiala. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said accused weredemanding Rs 25,000 to help him in a police case.

After verifying his information, the Vigilance team fromPatiala laid a trap and three accused SI, HC and PHG were arrested on the spottaking bribe of Rs. 13,000 from the complainant in the presence of two officialwitnesses. He informed that a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has beenregistered against two SIs, two HCs, and one PHG at VB police station Patialaand further investigation was under progress.
