Former CJI Ranjan Gogoi takes oath as Rajya Sabha MP, Congress walks out

On Thursday, former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, who headed benches which delivered significant jugdments like the Ayodhya verdict took oath as Rajya Sabha MP amid commotion by opposition members.

However, several critics has called his appoitment to the legislature as malefic to the independence of the judiciary. The main opposition party Congress in Parliament said, " it was one of the most serious, unprecendented and unpardonable assaults on the basic structure of the Constitution."

Apparently, when Ranjan Gogoi took oath today, several Opposition leaders voiced out: shame, shame and staged walked out from the Parliament.
