Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) Mohan Bhagwat metMithun Chakraborty at his home. Rumours are rife that the actor would joinBharatiya Janta Party (BJP).
According to reports, Chakraborty is an icon in WestBengal. The impending March-April elections could be the reason behind suchrumors or Chakraborty could actually join BJP before the elections.
They met at Bhagwat's (70) Bungalow in subarban Madh areaof Malad west. It has triggered rumors that Chakraborty can return to activepolitics after five years.
They both also met at Nagpur earlier. RSS headquarter issituated in Nagpur. However, Chakraborty said, “Do not speculate, I and Bhagwathave a spiritual connect. We had met in Lucknow and I had requested him to visitme whenever he visited Mumbai.”
His meeting at Nagpur and new meeting in Malad west hasinevitably triggered speculations because the West Bengal elections are comingand he is showing growing association with RSS.
During the 34 year old left front rule of West Bengal,Chakraborty was associated with CPIM and he was a naxal activist in 70s. Lateron he switched his associations and joined TMC. He was the Rajya Sabha MP fromTMC and had quit in 2016.
