Sacrilege Case: Navjot Sidhu blames delayed justice on Punjab CM’s incompetence

This is the second time, Navjot Sidhu has directly targeted Punjab CM on the matter, earlier he questioned Capt Amarinder for 'evading' responsibility as the Home Minister during the 2015 sacrilege case.

In yet another veiled attack directly aimed at PunjabChief Minister Amarinder Singh, his former Cabinet minister and Congress leaderNavjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday termed the incompetence of Home Minister (CaptAmarinder), the major reason behind delay in justice in the 2015 sacrilege caseand subsequent Kotkapura firing incident.

Navjot Sidhu through his tweet said, “Injustice caused bydeliberate delay is betrayal of People’s Mandate. After Multiple InquiryCommissions, SITs and passage of 6 years, evidence has weakened while accusedhave gained in wisdom, making their defence stronger due to repetitive investigationson the same matter”.

In the other tweet, Sidhu while sharing a 2016 videoclipping of Capt Amarinder wherein he can be seen promising to send Badals tojail for Kotkapura firing incident if elected to power, wrote, “Sad !! Due toincompetence of Home Minister, Govt is forced to accept orders of the HighCourt, which the People of Punjab are standing up against. Giving 6 months toNew SIT, extends the delay of Govt’s biggest poll promise, unfortunately up-tonext elections code of conduct”.

This is the second time, Navjot Sidhu has directlytargeted Punjab CM on the matter, earlier he questioned Capt Amarinder for'evading' responsibility as the Home Minister during the 2015 sacrilege case.

It’s been long now, Sidhu, who was earlier lying low inthe political circles since he had resigned from his post as a Cabinet ministerin July 2019 after differences with the Chief Minister over portfolioallocation to him, has been blaming his own government for 'weak' investigationinto the cases related to the sacrilege issue.

Meanwhile, Navjot Sidhu today’s tweet is in reference toPunjab Government’s latest orders of constituting a new three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), to complete the investigations into the Kotkapurafiring incident, as per the court’s orders.

Targeting the same, Sidhu has mentioned that it is due toincompetence of Home Minister which is Punjab CM Captain Amarinder, thegovernment is forced to accept orders of the High Court, which the People ofPunjab are standing up against.

Besides, there are reports that a few of the Punjab Cabinet Ministers and other among congress leaders have lately met Navjot Sidhuand they have ‘regrouped’ themselves to pressure the Congress government tofulfill its poll promises particularly delivering justice in the sacrilege case.
