SuperstarSalman Khan on Sunday turned 55 and he decided to keep his birthday a low-key considering2020 has been a terrible year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Khan,who is spending his birthday with his family and close friends at his Panvelfarmhouse, interacted with a selected media and had cut a cake in the earlyhours of Sunday.
"Thereare no celebrations this year, it's just me and my family here and no one else.I wasn't in a mood to celebrate my birthday as this has been a terrible yearfor everyone and a lot of people from the industry have passed away. So, itdoesn't call for celebration," Khan told the reporters.
Healso appealed to his fans to follow COVID-19 protocols in order to remain safeamid the pandemic. "I just hope everyone is happy, healthy and safe andare wearing masks. Keep washing your hands and maintain social distancing sothat everybody remains safe," he said.
Theprominent film personalities, including Khan's father, veteran screenwriterSalim Khan, sister Alvira Agnihotri, actors Sunil Grover, Sooraj Pancholi,Zaheer Iqbal, Nikitin Dheer, Kratika Sengar and casting director MukeshChhabra, attended the intimate birthday gathering.
OnSaturday, Khan had also urged his fans to not throng outside his house insuburban Bandra on the occasion of his birthday due to the pandemic and alsoinformed he is not at home.
Moreover,in a notice displayed outside Salman Khan’s building, it was written, “The loveand affection of my fans over the years has been overwhelming on my birthdaysbut this year it is my humble request not to crowd outside my housekeeping theCOVID pandemic and social distancing norms in mind”.
