In a horrifying incident, a 54-year-old security guardwas brutally murdered in the wee hours of Saturday. The incident was reportedto have taken place in Adarsh Colony near Kapurthala Chowk.
A native of Uttar Pradesh, the deceased was identified asRajinder Kumar alias Kala, a resident of Paras Estate, Basti Peer Daad. The incidenttook place around 3.30am and was caught in CCTV cameras, police said, addingthat the guard died on the spot.
Area SHO Sukhbir Singh, Police Division number-2 said,the information about the murder was received around 8.15 AM at police controlroom. Some local residents informed about the body to the PCR teams.
"The deceased was completely soaked in blood.Apparently, he was brutally attacked with a wooden rod and an interlocking tilebefore succumbing to his fatal injuries. The rod and the tile having bloodstains of the victim were also recovered from the spot. After investigating thematter and verifying the CCTV footage, it was established that he was killedby a scrap lifter. Another security guard, who works in an ATM has alsoconfirmed his identification”, police informed.
The accused has been identified as Raju (30), a residentof Basti Danishmanda. The accused reportedly killed the victim due to a personalenmity.
When asked motive behind the murder, SHO said, “Rajinderused to stop Raju from lifting waste from him complex. They even had a fightaround one year ago for the same reason. Therefore, when he again asked him tonot to collect the waste from his area, they got engaged into a heated argumentwhich eventually turned ugly and Raju ended up killing him”.
A case of murder has been registered against Raju at thepolice station and he was arrested today, SHO said.
