Sidhu Moosewala lands in soup after joining Congress; compares himself with Manmohan Singh

Ahead of Punjab polls, singer Sidhu Moosewala joinedCongress on Friday. Sidhu joining Congress will bolster the chances of theparty in Punjab or will be a setback is not clear as the singer has been facingbacklash just hours after making the political entry. Sidhu Mosselwala has beenin soup for his previous statements over the 1984 Punjab riots.

Sidhu Moosewala enjoys a massive fan following in Punjab;however, since his induction in Congress, people are calling him ‘Gaddar’(traitor). The people of Punjab allege that the singer chose a party thatlaunched ‘operation blue star’ and are responsible for the Sikh massacre in1984.

Sidhu, on the other hand, rebuffed all the allegations.Talking on Instagram Live, the singer responded to all the allegations andasserted that “he will always fight for right.”

“After the 1984 incident, Congress, at least three times,managed to come into power in Punjab,” he said, asking why did Punjabis votefor the party.

He urged people not to hold a double standard. He also explained the reason he joined Congress. “If Ihad joined SAD, people would have said that I joined hands with culprits of“beadbi”. On joining BJP, you people would have said that I am anti-farmer asBJP was against farmers, for AAP you would say I joined B-team of RSS.”

He stated, "I chose Congress because I want to servethe people of Punjab."

The singer also stated that he has no interest inpolitics, however, want to bring change and for that, he has to be a part ofadministration. “Other artists work for money, fame and their own family. Iwant to work for people and thus I chose Congress,” said the controversialsinger.

“You can’t bring change while chilling on a foreignland,” he added.

The Punjabi singer also mentioned former Prime MinisterDr Manmohan Singh. “After the 1984 incident, Dr Singh made government in Punjaband that too for three times. Would you call him ‘Gaddar’ too? Don't spreadpropaganda,” Sidhu stated.

“MLA’s represent only one constituency. But people acrossthe world know me and I can get the work done,” Sidhu Mossewala concluded.

Punjab’s most controversial singer Sidhu Moose Walajoined National Congress Party on December 3. He is known to glorify guns andpolice cases in his songs. Punjab’s CM Charanjit Singh Channi and PPCC ChiefNavjot Singh Sidhu welcomed him to the party.

He will be contesting the polls from Mansa, his hometown.
