Squid Game The Challenge: Meet six 'real-life' contestants participating in Netflix reality show

Squid Game The Challenge is a 10-episode competition series that will see contestants compete to win $4.56 million, the largest single cash prize in reality television history.

Among the most-awaited reality series of the year- Squid Game: The Challenge was released on Netflix on November 22, 2023. As expected, Squid Game: The Challenge became the talking point among fans on social media. For those who are unaware, Squid Game: The Challenge is a reality TV spin on the South Korean global sensation series.  

Squid Game The Challenge is a 10-episode competition series that will see contestants compete to win $4.56 million, the largest single cash prize in reality television and game show history. As per reports, the show pits 456 contestants against each other. However, there are a few contestants who are looking much more interesting and Netflix itself is promoting them in their teasers. Below is a list of top contestants of Squid Games: The Challenge- 

1) Trey Plutnicki

Player number 301 is Trey Plutnicki. As per US media reports, Trey Plutnicki is a delivery driver and aspiring actor from Chicago. In the Netflix reality show, Trey stated that he went on the show for his mom, who's also competing for the $4.56 million prize. It is pertinent to mention here that in July 2022, his lung collapsed. Trey was reportedly in the hospital for eight days, and it was hard for him to breathe during four of those days. 

Trey recently took to his Instagram handle and shared a series of his pictures with the caption saying, "Look mom I'm on TV...oh wait you are also on TV. I'm competing on Squid Game: The Challenge! First five episodes now streaming on @netflix. It's been a lifelong dream of mine to compete at this scale, and I'm so happy to share the screen with my mom. Tune in to see if I do big die or big win!!!"

2) LeAnn Wilcox Plutnicki

Interestingly, Trey's mom LeAnn Wilcox Plutnicki has also participated in Squid Game The Challenge. It means LeAnn Wilcox Plutnicki is not only competing against other contestants but also against her own son Trey. LeAnn Wilcox Plutnicki is player number 302. As per reports, LeAnn is a retired newspaper editor from Bergen County, N.J. LeAnn was an editor for The New York Times, where she worked in various departments. LeAnn joined the competition to show people you can keep trying and doing new things at an older age.

3) Bryton Constantin

Bryton Constantin is player number 432 participating in Squid Game: The Challenge. Bryton Constantin is termed as the villain of the Netflix reality show. As per reports, Bryton Constantin is a student from Clemson, S.C. who dropped out of college to be on the reality show. Bryton played football for the Clemson Tigers, stepping away from the game in July 2020 due to several injuries. Bryton Constantin is also quite famous on social media. 

On Instagram, Bryton Constantin enjoys a following of over 18K (while writing). Bryton Constantin is into fitness and calls himself an athlete as well. 

4) Stephen Lomas

Stephen Lomas is player number 243 in the Squid Games reality show. As per reports, Lomas is a moving company owner from Kansas City, Mo. Lomas is reportedly participating in the show as he didn't have much stability in his household, stating that he was one of nine kids. Stephen says his family has been homeless many times as a result of his tough childhood. Also, Stephen does not share a cordial relationship with his parents. However, he still talks to his mom.

5) Rick

Player number 232 is Rick. Rick is a 69-year-old physician from Armstrong County, Pa. As per Rick, he will use his age as an asset. Rick points out that no one thinks he's a threat, but he is — his mind is very sharp, so they better watch out. While in the competition, Rick bonds with Stephen, Player 243, and forms a gang (the gganbu gang) to further his game.

6) Chaney

Chaney is player number 179. Chaney is a math teacher from Houston, Texas. Chaney in the show has revealed that she has heard that she comes off as quite an intimidating person; not only is she beautiful, but she's also intelligent.
