State-of-art Lala Lajpat Rai Bhawan to come up at Jagraon as Punjab Govt sanctions Rs 1.57cr

Rs 5 lakh released for renovation of Lala Lajpat Rai’s ancestral house, work to begin soon

In order to keep younger generations abreast with thesupreme sacrifices of freedom fighters, the Punjab Government would soon builda State-Of-Art Lala Lajpat Rai Bhawan in the historic town of Jagraon where theLala Lajpat Rai spent his childhood. The state government has approved a grantof Rs 1.57 crore.

Besides this, the government has also released Rs. 5 lakhfor the renovation of the ancestral house of Lala Lajpat Rai.

While paying tribute to the legendary freedom fighterhere, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that this state-of-artLala Lajpat Rai Bhawan would be built to his memory for future generations. TheDeputy Commissioner was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (UrbanDevelopment) Sandeep Kumar, ADC Jagraon Dr Nayan Jassal, and SDM Jagraon VikasHeera.

The Deputy Commissioner, who also inspected various sitesfor developing this state-of-the-art building in Jagraon, said that thismonument would be a humble tribute to Lala Lajpat Rai.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the officials to submitcomplete land records, building plans, designs and other documents of thesesites at the earliest so that a detailed project report can be prepared andconstruction work can be initiated expeditiously.

Sharma told that the state government would perpetuatethe glorious history of this place for the coming generations and said that ithas also released a grant of Rs 5 lakh for immediate renovation of theancestral house of the Lala Lajpat Rai. He said that the Department of CulturalAffairs, Archives, and Archaeology & Museums would soon start the work hereto preserve this national heritage.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner also paid his richtribute to the greatest freedom fighter of India at his ancestral house andalso visited a museum and library.
