The Supreme Court of India recently heard the case of SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia. The Supreme Court, after the hearing against Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, issued a series of strict directives aimed at ensuring the integrity of the ongoing investigation in a drugs case. During the hearing, the top judicial body barred Majithia from making any public or media statements about the Special Investigation Team (SIT) or any of its members. The court emphasized that such comments could potentially interfere with the investigation. Below is what SC directed to Bikram Majithia-
The apex court underlined that if Majithia fails to cooperate with the SIT, his bail could be revoked, leaving the court with "no other option" but to cancel his bail.
For the unversed, on December 20, 2021, Majithia was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act when the Charanjit Singh Channi-led Congress government was at the helm.
