Gunmen unleashed terror on Tuesday near Pahalgam, opening fire at a crowded tourist spot and killing 26 people, many of them out-of-state visitors.
This inhumane act of violence has left families across India—and even Nepal—devastated. The victims came from all walks of life: officers, travelers, workers, family men, and just everyday people. Some were in Pahalgam for work, others possibly on pilgrimage or leisure. Their only fault was being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
These people are our own; they hail from different parts of the country and even outside the country (Atithi Devo Bhava, a Sanskrit phrase meaning "a guest is like God”).
