Two-day online workshop held to mark Int’l Yoga Day at Science City

Expert Yoga practitioner, Col Sewa Singh was the resource person at this occasion.

Pushpa Gujral Science City celebrated  International Yoga Day by organizing a twodays online workshop. Expert Yoga practitioner, Col Sewa Singh was the resourceperson at this occasion.

The main objective of the program was to learn a holisticapproach to health and well-being of our body, mind, and spirit simultaneously.The workshop started with warming up and stretching followed by Asanasincluding a series of Padmasanas, Sukhasan, Tadasana, Bhujang Asana and endedwith Shavasana. Col Singh emphasized on performing Asanas regularly for 5 to 10minutes daily for a happy and stress free life.

Dr. Neelima Jerath, Director General Science City givingintroductory remarks at the occasion said that amidst increasing distractionsand stress of modern life,  certainresearch studies have indicated that Yoga can be effective in reducing stressand improving mental well-being and general physical improvement. 

"Like allphysical exercises it can help build muscle strength, increase flexibility,boost up endurance and tune up body organs. The fact that it is less strenuousmakes it safer and easier for all age groups to practice. The workshop isintended to provide hands-on exposure of basic yogic practices and meditationstrategies", she added.

Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director, Science City present at theoccasion urged the participants to adopt yoga as a routine activity in theirdaily life. The COVID-19 pandemic has become a major cause of anxiety worldwideand Yoga practice is actively sought to achieve reduced stress and improved sleepso as to positively impact immunity, he added.
