PunjabVigilance Bureau, today nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and headconstable (HC), both posted at police station Jalandhar Cantonment, red handedwhile accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000.
Disclosingthis here today a spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau said ASI Parmod Kumar and HCSumanjeet Singh were arrested on the complaint of Kush Kumar of Jalandhar. Thecomplainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused ASI wasdemanding Rs 20,000 to release his car confiscated by the police despite thecourt orders.
Afterverifying his information, a vigilance team from Jalandhar unit laid a trap andboth the accused, ASI and HC, were arrested on the spot while taking bribe ofRs. 20,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
Heinformed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registeredagainst both the accused at VB police station Jalandhar and furtherinvestigation was under progress.
