Vocational Training to the Prisoners Will Be Helpful in their Rehabilitation : Sessions Judge Rajinder Agarwal

Women Prisoners Undergone Training in Making Jute file covers, bags, handbags and decorative items

Commendingthe initiatives taken by Patiala Central Jail authorities to make jail inmatesperfect by equipping them with training of various skills, District andSessions Judge Mr. Rajinder Agarwal said that it would pave the way for meetingthe purpose of creating a healthy society for the betterment of the inmates aswell as rehabilitation. He said that this would enable the inmates to earntheir own living and stay away from the world of crime after getting releasefrom Jail.

Mr.Agarwal was today at Central Jail to distribute certificates to women prisonerson the occasion of completion of 210th Skill Training Course for WomenPrisoners in collaboration with State Bank of Patiala's Rural Self EmploymentTraining Institute (RSETI). 

Hesaid that by imparting vocational training to the inmates in the jails, theywill get some remuneration besides good use of thier leisure time.

TermingWomen Prisoners' Training in Making Jute file covers, bags, handbags anddecorative items, beneficial for the environment, the District and SessionsJudge said that it was a good idea to use jute products to protect ourenvironment from pollution and to keep our surroundings plastic free.  He congratulated RSETI for the success of theprogram.

Onthis occasion the Superintendent of Central Jail S.  Shivraj Singh Nandgarh said that  efforts are being made by Jail Minister S.Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Additional Director General of Police (Prisons)to get the Central Jail factory back on track for the rehabilitation of inmatesinside the jail.

Mr.Nandgarh said that in collaboration with the Ministry of Rural Development andRSETI of State Bank of India, a program has been launched to impart specialskills to the inmates in the jails and to impart skills to the inmates.  Training has also been imparted forpreparation of files, bags, handbags, decorative items etc. from jute material.

Onthis occasion, the Director of RSETI Mr. Rajiv Sirhindi informed that the allthe women prisoners have passed an exam related to training with goodmarks.  He said that after their releasefrom jail, they would be provided subsidized loans by State Bank of India tostart their own work.

CJMMs. Tripatjot Kaur, Ms. Deepti Gupta, Lead Bank Manager PS Anand, DeputySuperintendents of Jail Harcharan Singh Gill and Harjot Singh Kler, HarjinderKaur, Assistant Superintendent Jagjit Singh, RSETI Faculty Chandan Puneet Singhand other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
