In a bizarre development, Canadian serial killer Robert Pickton was recently attacked in prison. Robert Pickton was charged with killing at least 21 women by luring them in his pig farm and was serving life sentence. Robert Pickton, 74, was lodged in a segregated intervention unit at the maximum-security Port-Cartier Institution when he was speared in the head with a broken broom handle on Sunday evening.
As per Canadian media, Robert Pickton continues to remain in critical condition and the butcher is not expected to survive. Robert Pickton was attacked by a 51-year-old attacker whose name has not been released. As per Canadian media reports, the 51-year-old man previously served a solitary confinement for assaulting other inmates.
Pickton was convicted of six counts of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison with the maximum parole ineligibility period of 25 years in 2007.
As per reports, Robert Pickton was charged with the murder of 21 women at first, but, those courts were stayed. Thereafter, investigators found DNA from 33 women — many of them sex workers who vanished from Vancouver’s downtown eastside in the 1990s and early 2000s — at Pickton’s Port Coquitlam pig farm. Reports further suggested that Robert Pickton once allegedly bragged to an undercover police officer that he had killed as many as 49 women.
Robert Pickton is infamously called the Pig Farmer Killer as he reportedly carried out murders at his pig farms.
Reacting to Robert Pickton's attack report, Cynthia Cardinal, whose sister Georgina Papin was one of PIckton’s official victims was quoted saying, "This news actually gives me a little bit of closure for myself..I’ve had all these feelings today. I know it’s Georgina. And I know she’s happy." "It’s been hard for me not knowing. I would hope that eventually, we get news on Janet because so many people said that she ended up there,” Gagnon added.
Gagnon said she was not surprised to hear of the attack on Pickton
