If you’re using an older smartphone, you might lose access to WhatsApp starting tonight at 12 AM, i.e., from June 1, 2025. Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has announced that the messaging app will stop working on a range of older iPhone and Android devices that no longer support the latest software updates.
This decision is part of WhatsApp’s regular policy to discontinue support for outdated operating systems. Devices running on such systems often don’t receive critical security updates, which can pose a threat to user data and privacy. By phasing out these devices, WhatsApp ensures that users get a secure and seamless messaging experience.

If your phone is running on iOS 15.1 or Android 5.1 (or any version above), there’s nothing to worry about—WhatsApp will continue to function normally.
