A minoraltercation outside the Model House in Jalandhar late at night turned intohooliganism by the bunch of miscreants. A Sikh youth was thrashed by 35 – 40 peopleoutside the park of Model House. All of them on two-wheelers beat up the youthwith a baseball bat and removed his turban.
The youthwho was manhandled is the son of Ambedkar Army Chief Jolly. The youth informed thatsome fellow from Ghai Nagar was staring at him while passing close. The youth askedthem why they are staring at him like that. One of them on a two-wheeler gotoutraged with this and called his fellow mates.
Thevictim further informed that the youths on the bike were loaded with weaponsand a few had country-made guns as well. As soon as they came they attacked theyouth near the park. Thrashed him with the baseball bat and his face with thecustomary steel bangles worn by Sikhs. They threw his turban off and draggedhim around holding his hair.
A womaneyewitness
A womanamong the mob gathered outside the nearby 'Daana-Paani Restaurant' said she was presentat the sight when all this happened. The woman said, “My home is close to thepark, most of the time people come here to hang out. They were around 40-50 ina group on the motorcycle, I thought they are here to celebrate."
But whenshe heard someone saying out loud, “Cut his legs with the sword”, she wasshocked and when she came out to see what happened. All of them had left thespot. She gave water to the injured man. The youth was brutally beaten up and thecrowd around him informed the entire episode to his family.
High Voltage Demonstration
Hours after the incident when the Police didn’t reach thespot. The people outraged by the incident demonstrated along with Ambedkar ArmyChief Jolly on the road. When late at night the road was jammed the local PoliceSuperintendent reached the spot and recorded the statement of the injured youthand the woman. SHO ensured that they will soon arrest the attackers.
