Arguably the biggest movie of the month, Border 2 is all set to be released in theaters on January 23, 2026. Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is based on true story of 1971 India-Pakistan war. Termed as India's biggest war drama, Border 2 features multiple big stars like Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, Varun Dhawan, Medha Rana and more in the key roles.
Suniel Shetty's son Ahan is playing the character of Indian Navy Officer in Border 2. For those who have forgotten, Suniel Shetty had played a key role in Border that was released in 1997.
Now, the question arises which real Indian Navy officer Ahan Shetty is playing in Border 2? Below is what you need to know-
Ahan Shetty took to his Instagram handle and shared a series of photos from Border 2. Ahan shared pictures with the name of his character in the movie- "Lt Cdr M.S. Rawat".
In one of the pictures, Ahan was seen donning an Indian Navy personnel's uniform. The name tag on the uniform is M.S. Rawat. Hence, it can be said that Ahan is playing the character of Lt Cdr M.S. Rawat.
However, on digging deep, it was found that Lt Cdr M.S. Rawat's name is fictional in nature. Still, Ahan's character is said to inspired by real life Indian Navy officer.
IMDb has mentioned the name of the character is Lt Cdr Joseph Noronha.
According to Salute Magazine report, Lieutenant Commander Joseph Pius Alfred Noronha was the Commanding Officer of INS Panvel, which formed part of the force entrusted with the task of attacking enemy targets in Mongla and Khulna areas in erstwhile East Pakistan from 08-11 December 1971.
Operating off Khulna and facing incessant air attacks as well as fire from enemy shore defences, Lt Cdr Noronha competently and fearlessly handled INS Panvel in very restricted waters while effectively engaging the enemy positions on the waterfront.
Lt Cdr Noronha succeeded in silencing enemy shore defences and causing extensive damage to vital enemy installations. For his conspicuous gallantry and leadership, he was awarded the MVC.
