Dhurandhar True Story: Who was Rehman Dakait, Pakistani gangster Akshaye Khanna playing?

One of the characters shown in Dhurandhar Trailer that have caught everyone's is Rehman Dakait played by actor Akshaye Khanna.

The much-awaited trailer of Dhurandhar was released on November 18 and ever since then it has become the talking point. While fans have hailed film-maker Aditya Dhar for coming up with action-packed movie and that too based on a true story, influencer Dhruv Rathee has slammed the makers for showcasing gory scenes.

4 minutes long trailer introduces fans to the characters Bollywood actors are playing. One of the characters that have caught everyone's is Rehman Dakait played by actor Akshaye Khanna.

Dhurandhar True Story

As per Indian Express report, Ranveer Singh's upcoming movie Dhurandhar is rumoured to be based on the life of Major Mohit Sharma, who went undercover as Iftikhar and infiltrated Hizbul Mujahideen in the early 2000s.

Interestingly, R. Madhavan's look who plays the character of Indian Intelligence officer Ajay Sanyal resemble to India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.

On the other hand, Arjun Rampal plays the character of ISI Major Iqbal, Akshaye Khanna plays Rehman Dakait, and Sanjay Dutt plays SP Choudhary Aslam.

Who was real life Rehman Dakait?

Rehman Dakait aka Abdul Rehman Baloch was said to be a Pakistani gangster based in Karachi's Lyari neighbourhood. Dakait formed the Peoples' Aman Committee.

A few reports also suggest that Dakait is a mythical figure from the feared but not talked about underworld.

In the early 2000s, Rehman Dakait's feud with Arshad Pappu intesified over drugs, extortion, and territory.

Dakait was killed in a shootout with Karachi police in 2009. As per reports, Zulfiqar Mirza gave a statement in which he said that he was the one who killed Rehman Dakait but at the same moment he said that he felt bad for this action.
